We support 18-24 year olds who are homeless or unsafe in London.

Eid Mubarak! 🌙🕌

We welcomed 147 young people into the centre over four Thursday evenings last month. We made sure every young person felt a sense of belonging and togetherness. It will be a Ramadan that we will remember for a very long time.

We enjoyed Sudanese, Egyptian and Caribbean food and provided young people with space to speak about memories from home. Many shared stories with us of what Ramadan means to them over the four weeks, and we learnt about the different Islamic traditions practiced across the world. The specially sourced Arabic Vimto went down particularly well!

We also transformed our Barn space into a peaceful and intentional space for prayer, and gave Iftar packs, extra Quran and travel prayer mats for those who were rough sleeping.

So many of our young people have travelled long, arduous and often traumatic journeys to reach our centre, so to hear them then share with us that ‘it was like having Iftar with family’ makes all the hard work we do, so incredibly worthwhile.

Today is the first day of our Football vs Youth Homelessness 5-a-side tournament! The goal is to kick youth homelessness out of London. ⚽ 🏃 🏆
We have 10 amazing local businesses, and our own teams FC Hope and Faith United, competing to see who can win our coveted trophy and raise the most money to support all young people to give their potential a home.

Was great to hear our CEO Phil and Andy, a young person we`ve been supporting, on @bbclondon this week. Young people are the fastest growing age group forced to sleep rough in London and yet there is no recognition of this in the funding, political priorities and service offer in the capital and across the UK. We`ve been supporting under-25s who are unhoused and unsafe in London for over half a century, and it`s never been this bad. The problem isn`t going anywhere, so nor are we.

We`ll keep using every platform we have to shout about how young people don`t get the support and attention they deserve. We need everyone to take this seriously and start listening to young people and we must have a #YouthHomelessChapter in the government`s new strategy to end homelessness. Our first snowdrop of the year! Small sights and sounds of spring are appearing at New Horizon.

Although the temperatures are still very cold, we are looking forward to warmer weather and sunnier days.

In the meantime, we continue to provide daily hot food, drinks, showers and a warm place to be for young people affected by homelessness.
