On #FuelPovertyAwarenessDay this year, we celebrate the success of last year`s Winter Relief Fund - helping to keep young people warm and housed during the difficult winter months.Cast your mind back to Autumn 2022. I`m sure you remember being concerned about inflation and the dramatic increase in energy bills and rent. But for young people affected by homelessness, this worry was even more acute – would I be able to keep my flat if rent and energy bills rises? Will I be forced back into homelessness??So on 1st October 2022, the Young Londoner’s Winter Relief Fund was created in partnership with funders and charities, with the aim of keeping young people housed and in employment or education. It offered one-off, non-repayable grants of up to £300 to young people to support them with bills, rent and other necessary items.Read more - link in bio 🖇️

Each of these impact numbers is a young person with hopes, dreams and potential to change their situations and improve the world for others. Join us on our mission to give every young Londoner’s potential a home. In 2022-2023 - 1. We supported 1,146 young people, many who were rough sleeping before they came to us, and 14% are LGBTQ 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️2. 211 young people got emergency accommodation and 171 secured long term housing! 🏡3. 507 young people improved their mental health through engaging with our support and activities 🧠4. 559 young people took part in our Life Skills programmes 📝5. 265 young people were supported by our outreach team, on the streets, in prison or in their community 🩵#GivingTuesday
Top 5 highlights from NHYC in the past year! 1. We worked with over 1000 young people to help them secure housing, gain employment and life skills and improve their mental and physical health 🏡2. We ran a very successful #StopTheBus campaign to highlight that a bus full of young people become homeless every year 🚌3. Our amazing football team competed in and won tournaments! ⚽️4. London Mayor Sadiq Khan visited our new youth hub, an accommodation project in North London 🤝5. It’s so important that we remember them and push harder for better services this winter to keep people safe. We mourn the dead, and spend everyday fighting like hell for the living.
