One of the benefits of having continually operated for more than half a century is that we often have former service users coming back to us many years later to share their progress.

Recently, we heard from Claire*, who accessed our services over ten years ago. Our work is distinct in many ways and this story is a testament to the transformative long-term relationships we build with every young people who wants our help.

Claire’s story

“I just want to say how eternally grateful I am to your Youth Centre.

Around 2009/2010 I came to your centre homeless and in a horrible relationship, struggling with domestic violence and my life looked bleak.

You homed me, gave me advice and support, you even helped me think through my choices when I found out I was pregnant.

Without New Horizon I doubt I would have had the strength or courage to make the correct choices.

I’m now a happy mum of a very strong and content 11 year old. I live in the city and have a property of my own. I work with children as a nursery teacher and have a very healthy and happy relationship with someone who values me and my son.

New Horizon was pivotal to my story and was the stepping stone I needed to get myself back on track.

Forever grateful”
