TRUSTS AND FOUNDATIONS

Trusts and Foundations have played a vital role in our 57 year history, providing the generous support that has shaped us into the holistic, trauma-informed service we are today. Thanks to their commitment, we help over 1,500 young Londoners who find themselves homeless or unsafe each year.

More than 40% of our income comes from Trusts and Foundations, with grants ranging from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of pounds. Many of our partners have supported us for years, offering crucial funding and stability that allows us to respond to the evolving needs of young people.

Our Trust and Foundation partners have been instrumental in driving innovation at New Horizon Youth Centre – whether it is championing systemic change, delivering innovative accommodation solutions, or funding new roles to better support young people. Some choose to provide unrestricted donations, giving us the flexibility to direct funds where they are needed most, while others support specific projects or focus areas. No matter how they give, their generosity ensures young people facing homelessness in London can access the services they need to rebuild their lives.

CASE STUDY – OAK FOUNDATION

In 2018, we reached out to Oak Foundation to explore a potential partnership with New Horizon Youth Centre – the beginning of a strong and meaningful relationship.

In 2020, Oak awarded us a three-year grant of £306,316, which enabled us to grow our team and invest in key organisational priorities. With this support, we refreshed our brand and website, strengthened youth participation, and developed our Theory of Change model – laying the foundation for long-term impact across our services and the wider sector.

In 2023, Oak deepened its commitment by transitioning to unrestricted funding, awarding us a five-year grant of £620,000. This flexibility allows us to respond swiftly to the evolving youth homelessness crisis in London, adapting to the changing needs of young people as they arise.

We are deeply grateful to Oak Foundation for its long-term support. Through its grant-making, Oak Foundation contributes to a safer, fairer and more sustainable world.

MAJOR GIFTS

At New Horizon Youth Centre, we consider any donations over £5,000 as major giving and they play a vital role in our work.

By giving at this level, you can make a powerful and immediate difference for young people who are homeless or at risk in London. We work closely with our major donors to align their passions and values with the areas of our work where their gift can have the greatest impact.

A significant proportion of the major gifts we receive are unrestricted – allowing us to respond rapidly to the growing crisis of young people becoming homeless. This flexibility means we can meet young people where they are and provide them with urgent support when they need it most.

Last year, this enabled us to help more young people sleeping rough when the need surged. Because of generous unrestricted donations, we could increase our spending on emergency accommodation, ensuring young people had a safe place to stay and the help they needed to rebuild their lives.

Your support can be life changing. To find out about major giving, please do get in touch.

BERKELEY FOUNDATION

ኤም. ዲ. ወለንተኛታት ነቲ ኣብ ማእከልና ዝነበረ ስፍራ ኣታኽልቲ ለውጢ ገበሩሉ።

We’re so proud of our 3-year strategic partnership with the Berkeley Foundation who have supported us with £450,000 towards running out Housing Advice and Life Skills programmes. Support from the Berkeley Foundation has allowed us to support hundreds of young people into safe and sustainable accommodation, as well as ensure they have access to enriching workshops and education, training and employment opportunities to help them build a brighter future and end the cycle of homelessness.

It’s through our strategic, multi-year partnerships that we’re able to deliver long-term, impactful work for young people experiencing homelessness and ensure the continuation of our vital services.

MCGEE

As one of our amazing Charity of the Year Partner’s, McGee construction has delivered a fantastic fundraising campaign since 2024, helping raise over £18,000 so far through successful staff fundraising initiatives. This has included fundraising through challenge events like Tough Mudder and The London Walk, as well as through taking part in New Horizon’s ‘Football vs Homelessness’ tournament.

Their support of our work emphasised by their commitment to match funding all donations from staff has significantly increased the impact of their fundraising, ensuring that every contribution goes even further in supporting young people experiencing homelessness.

UNIQLO

Since partnering with UNIQLO’s newly opened King’s Cross branch this year, we’ve received countless clothing donations for young people, including essential items to help those sleeping rough. We run the only youth specific rough sleeping outreach team in London, finding and supporting young people who are sleeping rough. Donations of UNIQLO’s ‘HEATTECH collection’, including thermals, socks, scarves, underwear, tops, trousers and coats have meant that young people sleeping rough have access to high-quality clothing, not only to help protect against harsh weather but also offer young people a sense of dignity and care, especially during the cold winter months.

We rely on the generosity of our corporate partners to ensure we can provide access to the food, clothing and toiletry items that young people need.

LEAVING A GIFT IN YOUR WILL

We want to end youth homelessness, but we recognise there will always be barriers putting young people at risk. By leaving a gift in your Will to New Horizon, you will leave a lasting impact on the next generation of young people in London.

We provide a safe space, housing advice, education, training, and employment support to help young people build better futures.

A gift in your Will will cost you nothing now but provides a lifeline for young Londoners in years to come.

HOW YOU CAN PLEDGE

You can choose to leave:

  • A lump sum: A specific sum of money that reflects your desired contribution.
  • A percentage of your estate: Ensures your gift reflects the value of your estate at the time of your passing.
  • The residue of your estate: What remains after all other inheritances have been made.

We recommend consulting a solicitor to ensure your Will is legally valid and accurately reflects your wishes. Additionally, informing your family about your decision can help them understand your values and the reasons behind your choice.

WHAT YOU WILL GET FROM US

  • Regular updates on the work we are doing, and our plans for the future
  • Invitations to events
  • Tours of our day centre

“My wife and myself, supported by our children, felt a legacy an ideal way to help in a meaningful way those less fortunate. In leaving a percentage of our estate to New Horizon, they can support many future young Londoners, and our financial security will not be jeopardised by having given away money we may need in years to come.” – David and Eva
