If you’re adding your voice to the Black Lives Matter movement this weekend, please be aware of Covid-19 restrictions and keep in mind social distancing. Follow these tips to help keep you safe:
- Research the area so that you know how to leave as quickly and safely as possible if needed
- Only attend official protests
- Follow BLM guidelines on social media (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook)
- Wear trainers or other comfortable shoes
- Carry water and high protein snacks
- Carry a list of medications you are on or wear a MedicAlert if you have allergies
- Bring hand sanitizer
- Wear a mask and gloves and try to socially distance from people
- Don’t wear headphones so that you are aware of what is happening around you
- Make sure your phone is fully charged. Bring a power bank if possible, as if you take lots of pictures or videos, the battery will not last long
- Stay on the planned march and don’t break off with smaller groups
