We are excited to announce that Matthew Reed will join us at New Horizon Youth Centre today as our new Chair of Trustees.
Matthew is currently Chief Executive of Marie Curie, the largest single charitable provider of end of life care in the UK. Previously Matthew served seven years as Chief Executive of The Children’s Society, developing its social justice focus, overseeing a major strategy review and further growing the charity's capability to support young people who are facing multiple disadvantage and exploitation. Before that, Matthew was Chief Executive of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and a director of Christian Aid.
Responding to the announcement Matthew said that “It is a great honour to be chosen to be the next Chair of this incredible charity. All young people deserve the chance to live a full life, yet every year, thousands of young Londoners are barely surviving. I’ve already seen first-hand the life-changing support that New Horizon Youth Centre provides to young people who find themselves homeless in London."
“I look forward to working closely with Phil and the Trustees to develop the centre’s work and to ensure that more vulnerable young people have the opportunity to build a better life and fulfil their potential.”
Phil Kerry, Chief Executive at New Horizon Youth Centre, said “On behalf of all the staff and our youth forum at the centre, we are delighted to welcome Matthew as our new Chair. His long standing commitment to tackling poverty and supporting young people shines through. We can’t wait to begin working with him to ensure that every young person experiencing homelessness who comes to us has a home for their potential.”
