We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the prestigious Andy Ludlow Homelessness Award! The nomination is for our innovative London Youth Gateway partnership with Alone in London, Depaul UK and Stonewall Housing, with New Horizon Youth Centre as the lead partner.

The Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards celebrate innovation and good practice among organisation tackling homelessness in London. With the London Youth Gateway we offer a unique and very effective response to the many major changes happening in the external environment which affect both young people and service providers.

By working in partnership and combining our resources and expertise, the London Youth Gateway has shown to be able to:

  • Provide a truly comprehensive service and flexible response to the changing needs of young people (16-25) who are homeless or at risk, achieving a more profound longer-term impact on young vulnerable people’s lives in terms of accommodation, health, training and employment.
  • Expand our work into each of the inner and outer London boroughs, achieving a genuinely London-wide reach. The London Youth Gateway helps the most hard to reach young Londoners and makes it easier for young people to get the help they need. Nearly 4,500 young people from across the capital benefited from the London Youth Gateway in 2013/14.
  • Operate a successful partnership, which has enabled the partners to develop and sustain their organisations at a time of major upheaval in the homelessness sector, while retaining the identity and independence of their organisations. By working together, we are able to achieve more longer term outcomes for young homeless people and each of the partners.

“Working in partnership on London Councils' 'youth homeless commission for London’ has proved to me how effective the London Youth Gateway can be in making a real impact on young people’s lives. Sharing an ethos and history of working together has underpinned our success and has helped our development and sustainability for the future.”
