After eight years leading New Horizon, Chief Executive Officer Phil Kerry has announced that he will be stepping down from his role in September.
During his tenure, Phil has helped guide the organisation through a period of significant growth and impact, significantly growing services for young people facing homelessness, building partnerships across London and strengthening New Horizon’s voice on the national stage.
Reflecting on his time at New Horizon, Phil said:
“It has been the greatest privilege of my working career to lead New Horizon over the last eight years. The highlight has always been the young people – their determination, resilience and belief in a better future despite the obstacles they face. I leave with immense pride in what the team have achieved together with them and confidence in what comes next.”
The Board of Trustees has thanked Phil for his exceptional leadership and commitment to New Horizon’s mission through times of turbulence that have included pandemics and overlapping crises:
Chair of Trustees Matthew Reed said:
“Phil has been an exceptional Chief Executive of New Horizon, and we are very sorry to see him go. Over the past eight years, he has made an extraordinary difference to our charity and, most importantly, to the lives of the young people experiencing homelessness whom we serve. His leadership, compassion and steady guidance helped New Horizon grow and thrive, including through the immense challenges of the pandemic. He leaves with our warmest thanks, deep admiration and very best wishes for the future.”
To ensure a smooth transition, Chief Operating Officer, Meghan Roach will assume the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer from September.
Next week the Board will begin the recruitment process for a permanent successor. In the meantime, the organisation remains focussed on delivering its 2030 strategy and supporting young Londoners to overcome homelessness and ensure their potential has a home.
Everyone at New Horizon would like to thank Phil for his dedication, passion and leadership over the last eight years and wish him every success for the future.
