NHYCTakeover Header

Every year, thousands of young people across London become homeless because of family breakdown, domestic abuse, poverty, experiences of violence, or war and persecution in their home country.

The homelessness crisis is clear to everyone living and working in and around King's Cross but beneath it lies a much bigger – and largely invisible – set of issues affecting young people struggling to get by.

So from October 1st through to World Homeless Day on October 10th we are partnering with Argent and the thriving community of organisations in the area for a 10 day takeover to raise awareness of and funds for youth homelessness.

Do your bit for World Homeless Day.

We are bringing the community of King's Cross together to take on youth homelessness. 25 businesses, shops and restuarants are getting involved and you can all play your part.

Do - From Sweaty Betty to Google we have workshops being delivered across the area to help young people develop their skills and build their confidence.  Could you provide a free workshop for young people or employ young people? Please get in touch.

Discuss - Follow the takeover on Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter and help raise awareness using #NHYCTakeover.  We will be sharing stories from young people and all the action happening across the 10 days.

Donate - Fundraise with your friends or colleagues, consider a donation through your company or join us for Massaoke on World Homeless Day.  You can also text to donate.  To donate £5, text TAKEOVER to 70970.

If you want to play your part then get in touch with holly.middleditch@nhyouthcentre.org.uk and stay tuned to the 10 Day Takeover@nhyouthcentre and #NHYCTakeover during October.

‘As a company born and bred in King’s Cross, Cubitts are all too aware of the extent of homelessness in central London, and the hardships that those affected by it face. While the streets of King’s Cross have been an endless source of inspiration for us, the realities of sleeping rough on those streets are extremely harsh. We believe a good pair of spectacles should be a right not a privilege, and are keen to do our small bit to ease the hardship for some of our young neighbours.’
