Now I have a roof over my head I am back at work

Posted on: 4 December 2025

A young mixed race man is smiling in front of the Thames with City of London buildings in the background. He is wearing a bight red and black checked shirt over a white t-shirt, has a back pack slung over one shoulder and short brown hair.

“My time at New Horizon was a rocky one, coming to the centre with no shelter over my head and no money, hitting the lowest I have been, and facing a big reality check.

“New Horizon made me feel welcome and comfortable. They helped me get my confidence back and get where I needed to be by just reassuring me that everything was going to be fine.

“I now have a roof over my head, and I’m getting ready to move on with a permanent place. They also got me back into work, which I thought I wouldn’t for a while.

“New Horizon’s a very good place when you’re someone who is in need and needs support. The people working there do so much and are very kind, supportive and inclusive. You should all be proud of yourself for what you’re doing.”
