A chance conversation between New Horizon worker Hazz and a relative led to an event which has raised over £13k for our work with vulnerable young people.
Hazz was explaining the challenges faced by homeless young people to her aunt Viv, who decided to turn empathy into action, ralllying a group of like-minded friends to form a fundraising committee.
Their plans culminated in a cocktail fundraising event in central London last night, where money was raised by both ticket sales and an auction of items donated by friends and contacts. Our Patron Jon Snow was on hand to act as auctioneer, and the event raised a grand total of more than £13k.
All of us at New Horizon Youth Centre would like to say a huge thank you to organisers Katherine, Martin and Viv and everyone involved in last night's fundraising. The money will of course be a massive help to the work we do helping vulnerable young people into accommodation, training and employment. We are so grateful!
